The fluffy and smooth texture cultivated in Japan, with its four distinct seasons, is achieved by using lightweight and stretchy domestic cotton, providing an exceptional wearing experience. The design incorporates the atmosphere of traditional Japanese clothing.

This is a unique original fabric that features "Nazuna Stripes" printed on a richly textured cloth created through gentle and meticulous "weaving," showcasing a rich interplay of shadows and contours.

■Relaxing Wear "Nazuna Kyogaori"

【素材】

Made from 100% domestic cotton. This double cotton fabric is woven slowly with extremely finely twisted yarn, preserving the durability of cotton. The rich texture of the crinkled fabric (yōryū) and soft gauze feels just right against the skin, providing both breathability and warmth. Notably, it has elasticity comparable to jersey and knit fabrics. The more you wear and wash it, the more you can enjoy the unique texture that only cotton can offer. It's also excellent because it requires no ironing!

【色】

The unique taste of the soft twisted black cotton and the warmth and cleanliness that only cotton can provide in white. Even with a single color, the surface variations of the material create shadows that have the charm of a sumi-e painting.

【柄】

This is a pattern called "Nazuna Stripes," which incorporates a playful touch of Japanese culture and the company name.

The shape of "nazuna," counted among the seven herbs of spring, is subtly incorporated into the number "77." This is a hidden character technique often used in kimono designs.

The number "7" is considered a lucky number in America, derived from "lucky seventh," and it holds special significance in both Buddhism and Christianity. In ancient China and in Japan, where its culture was transmitted, odd numbers are seen as auspicious, and the tradition of celebrating the five seasonal festivals that coincide with odd numbers continues to this day. This playful spirit, which loves auspicious symbols, is subtly added. The continuous pattern also carries a wish for long-lasting prosperity.

Kyoto-born, Kyoto-raised, and currently living in Kyoto, a creator who promotes Kyoto's maiden culture.

After graduating from a fine arts university in Kyoto, I worked for 14 years as an employee at a product planning company before starting my freelance career.

Connecting the East and West (Kyoto and the World), the Past, Present, and Future, we create unique designs and cherished items that we want to hold dear, even in an age overflowing with things.

Numerous logo marks, branding, packaging, and product designs for cosmetic goods manufacturers, Western confectionery shops, and Kyoto cuisine restaurants.

2004, we first proposed the brand 'made in Kyoto, JAPAN' and announced the koha* original fabric.

Various collaborations with different companies, including women's accessories, interior goods, furisode, and Kyoto komon, are also common.

There is a 15th anniversary catalog "koha* 50/15 PATTERNS" (published by Mitsumura Suiko Shoin).

■デザイナーコメント

"Would you like to design relaxing wear for a luxurious ryokan filled with Kyoto's charm, which attracts many overseas customers?"

I was very excited by the sparkle of this power word that you invited me to at first.

I want to use cotton material that has a fluffy and smooth texture unique to "domestic" products, as well as stretchiness.

I want to create clothing that can be comfortably worn throughout the four seasons.

I want to achieve a way of wearing Japanese clothing that aligns with the principles of "wrapping" and "tying," which will also delight people from overseas.

I want to create a pattern that incorporates the wordplay of writing "77" as "Nazuna," the visual enjoyment it brings, and the auspiciousness of the number 7!

Such elements are all packed together, and we have depicted the traditional Japanese "Nazuna Stripe" (なずな縞) with the arrangement of "77" and the connected plants of "Nazuna."

Thanks to the skills and spirit of the people from the production areas in Japan, it has been properly conveyed.
